Singer Tony An, former member of the group H.O.T, opened up about his experience of being in a dangerous situation due to severe depression. Once a flourishing entertainer and businessman, he experienced a serious state due to his depression.
Today (23rd), SBS 'My Little Old Boy' will feature a visit by Lee Sang-min and Kim Hee-chul to Tony An's home, which has changed 180 degrees from before. Kim Hee-chul and Lee Sang-min, who were invited to the 'NEW Tony House,' were also left speechless by the transformed appearance of Tony An. In response, Tony An revealed the critical reason that forced him to change his lifestyle, surprising everyone. Interest is focused on what has happened to Tony An during this time.
Tony An, who said he became independent for the first time in 17 years after ending his long cohabitation with Kim Jae-duk, confessed for the first time the reason he hesitated to get married. He revealed that he has four mothers and admitted he hesitated to marry because of his father, which will be revealed through the broadcast.
Tony An, who confessed he went through a dangerous situation due to severe depression, shockingly shared that his pillow was soaked with blood and that he was found with his head shaved.
Earlier, Tony An appeared on the YouTube channel 'Reborn to be' in November last year and revealed this matter. After the group's disbandment, Tony An entered business, saying, "I used to have two businesses: a school uniform and entertainment business. The business was so successful that I made unimaginable money, and everything was perfect. I succeeded as a singer and as a businessman, so I thought, 'I will now be recognized,' but that's when my life began to collapse."
He continued, "I can't explain the exact reason, but I felt lonely. As the company representative, I had to bear all of this alone and thought I had to overcome it by myself. So I distanced myself from those around me."
Tony An said, "At some point, I started getting headaches. At that time, I took eight Tylenol a day. But even so, the headache didn't go away. Someone suggested that I should see a psychiatrist, so I went to the psychiatric clinic," adding, "I was prescribed a lot of medication for depression, bipolar disorder, social anxiety disorder, and after taking the medicine, my headaches disappeared. But I became very helpless."
He recounted, "I didn't want to do anything. Money was bothersome, eating was bothersome, and life itself was bothersome. I worked, but as I spent time in a daze, good thoughts didn't come to me. I kept having bad thoughts. I thought, 'What meaning is there in this life?' That made me start thinking about death. At that time, I lived on a high floor, and I imagined a lot while looking down from the balcony."
Moreover, Tony An explained, "I woke up after taking alcohol and drugs and felt damp. Instinctively, I looked at my wrist, and it was fine. Then I looked at the bed, and it was soaked with blood. I had no memory of it at all," adding, "On my way from the room to the living room, I saw myself in the mirror, and I had almost no hair. Looking at the living room, I saw hair scattered everywhere, and there were scissors nearby. I had cut my hair for a long time and flowed blood while cutting too close to my ears."
Tony An also shared, "I received a call from the management office, and the manager was worried, asking if I was okay. I asked why, and they told me that I broke the mirror with my head while taking the elevator up."
However, Tony An later revealed that he overcame his mental difficulties through the power of faith. He stated, "One day, I read the book 'Releasing' by missionary Lee Yong-kyu, which a fan had given me. I read the entire book in half a day, and suddenly my depression disappeared, and I felt hope."
