Kim Seon-gun, a former announcer who became a freelancer on 'Boss's Ears are Donkey Ears,' expresses gratitude to singer Jang Yoon-jung.
The KBS 2TV entertainment program 'Boss's Ears are Donkey Ears' (shortened as 'Sadanggui'), airing today (23rd), is a voluntary program for self-reflection and perspective-taking among bosses in South Korea, aimed at creating a pleasant work environment. According to Nielsen Korea, the previous episode recorded a peak rating of 7.4%, maintaining its position as the top entertainment program in the same time slot for 142 consecutive weeks.
In today's broadcast, boss Eom Ji-in visits Kim Seon-gun, a former announcer now working as a freelancer, for mental training for announcer Kim Jin-woong and Hong Joo-yeon. Jeon Hyun-moo comments on Kim Seon-gun's decision to freelance, saying, "It was somewhat unexpected at that time," eliciting laughter. Meeting Kim Seon-gun, Kim Jin-woong reveals, "I put my soul into KBS," which also provokes laughter. Jeon Hyun-moo demonstrates the relaxed demeanor of a successful freelance senior by saying, "You put your soul in and your body goes out."
However, Kim Seon-gun reveals the hardships of freelancing, touching everyone deeply. He states, "I went out for money. I suddenly won a house subscription and needed money," explaining the reason for his decision to freelance. Nevertheless, he adds, "In the six months after I left, my income was 0 won. At that time, Jang Yoon-jung gave me 2 million won in an envelope, saying, 'Seon-gun, you might need this when you go out,'" surprising everyone.
Subsequently, Kim Seon-gun worked part-time jobs packing books, loading and unloading for an online store, and collecting laundry. He confesses, "I received a lot of scolding from the security guys in the early morning and cried in my car many times," sharing his feelings for the first time, which evokes sympathy. Kim Seon-gun advises Kim Jin-woong and Hong Joo-yeon not to think about freelancing, saying, "I was in a vague situation when I left. It was hard because I had no position," which brings laughter.
