In '"New Menu Launch Restaurant"', Ryu Soo-young devoured 21 dishes in one day in Macau.
On the 21st, in KBS 2TV's '"New Menu Launch Restaurant"' (hereafter '"Restaurant"'), Ryu Soo-young departed for his third overseas business trip to Macau. Previously, Ryu Soo-young had gone on two overseas trips with '"Restaurant"'. He showcased Korean cuisine at Stanford University in the U.S. and introduced the flavors of Korean food in Minnesota's Korean village.
On that day, Ryu Soo-young was invited as a chef by the Macau Tourism Board upon arriving in Macau. Known as 'Macao', it is a city where one can enjoy a variety of food cultures and cuisines from around the world. Ryu Soo-young, known as the 'MukNam teacher' with expertise in both cooking and eating shows, exclaimed, "Cooking research!" thoroughly enjoying Macau's vibrant food culture. Viewers themselves had their mouths watering at Ryu Soo-young's eating show as he indulged in 21 dishes on the first day.
Ryu Soo-young first sought out a local eatery for hangover soup from early in the morning. At this place, he began with a pre-meal drink of doujiang (Chinese soy milk) and sampled local dishes like shuanrafun, perfectly suited to Korean tastes. He notably satisfied viewers' curiosity by daring to try unique ingredients such as frog that are not easily found.
However, Ryu Soo-young's eating show was just getting started. He quickly devoured fried rice, fried buns drizzled with condensed milk, the representative dessert of Macau, egg tart, milk pudding, and mala beef intestines, while also sharing various knowledge about the origins of the food, ensuring viewers were never bored.
Among all, what particularly caught attention was when Ryu Soo-young received an invitation from the famed chef Florita Alves, known as a master of Macau cuisine, and visited her fine dining restaurant. Upon seeing Ryu Soo-young, Chef Florita remarked, "Your lecture at Stanford was truly excellent," expressing her admiration for both '"Restaurant"' and Ryu Soo-young. This once again demonstrated the influence of '"Restaurant"' and K-food star Ryu Soo-young.
At this restaurant, Ryu Soo-young truly unleashed his appetite for the Macau food parade. All the staff from '"Restaurant"' watched the VCR and remarked, "He has been eating continuously since morning," but Ryu Soo-young insisted, "I'm conducting cooking research," and endlessly devoured food.
After eating throughout the day, the night fell, but Ryu Soo-young set out to find another eatery. However, an unexpected crisis arose. After enjoying the culinary road for 12 hours, he found himself in a situation where he needed to clear himself out. Ryu Soo-young quickly left, saying, "If I don't go now, it will be a big problem," and soon returned with a rather pale but refreshed smile, causing laughter. He then proceeded to enjoy the local dessert, tangsuyuk.
Ryu Soo-young sampled a whopping 21 dishes from Macau in just one day. This not only showcased his innate talent for eating shows but also sparked viewers' desire for a gastronomic trip to Macau with his self-created Macau food guide. In the next broadcast, Ryu Soo-young will participate in the 'Macau Food Festival', where over 1,000 types of food gather, striving to promote K-food.
Whenever he embarks on an overseas business trip, Ryu Soo-young of the 'MukNam teacher' truly shows the fun and power of Korean cuisine. I am curious and looking forward to his third overseas trip, to Macau, part 2. KBS 2TV's '"New Menu Launch Restaurant"' airs every Friday at 8:30 p.m.
