Singer and actor Jisoo has portrayed a deeply emotional love story.
Jisoo drew viewers' immersion with her fluctuating emotions and bubbly charm during the appearances of zombie hordes in episodes 3 and 4 of the Coupang Play series "Newtopia," released on the 14th and 21st.
"Newtopia" tells the story of military boyfriend Jaeyoon (Park Jung-min) and his girlfriend Yeongju (Jisoo) running toward each other across the zombie-infested streets of Seoul.
In episode 3, Yeongju, along with her senior Jinwook (Kang Young-seok) and celebrity Alex (Lee Hak-joo), sought shelter in an empty LP bar after being overwhelmed by a horde of zombies while waiting for rescue outside the police station. Her worry and longing for her boyfriend Jaeyoon deepened amidst the crisis. Inside the LP bar, Yeongju found a cassette tape that Jaeyoon had wanted and carefully kept it, showing her loyal heart. A photo of Jaeyoon accidentally captured on Alex's phone brought tears to viewers' eyes.
After receiving a text from Jaeyoon, Yeongju, with a sigh of relief and tears in her eyes, made a call. However, as their timing once again faltered, she declared her intention to head straight to A Tower where Jaeyoon was, and Jinwook and Alex agreed to support Yeongju's determined will to leave the LP bar alone.
In the subsequent episode 4, Yeongju recalled her memories with Jaeyoon from their university days before setting off to A Tower. Yeongju boldly confessed her feelings to the indifferent Jaeyoon, but when she was rejected, she burst into frustration. However, as Jaeyoon tied her shoelaces and conveyed his hidden sincerity, she looked at him with teary eyes, evoking a sweet yet nervous excitement.
While continuing the battle against zombies, Yeongju's team encountered a heavily intoxicated repeater (Tang Jun-sang). Yeongju got bitten by a zombie but prevented them from killing the seemingly fine repeater, and as the zombies avoided him, she bizarrely started drinking alongside him. This led to curiosity about how Yeongju would manage to survive the zombie crisis in the next episode.
Meanwhile, Jisoo made a solo comeback with her new mini-album "AMORTAGE" on the 14th, after two years. The album includes four tracks, including the title song "earthquake" as well as "TEARS," "Your Love," and "Hugs & Kisses," all of which Jisoo participated in producing and have received global acclaim.
The series "Newtopia," in which Jisoo grants, is released every Friday at 8 p.m. on Coupang Play.
