Actress Hong Hwa-Yeon shared her feelings about joining 'Treasure Island' after a fierce competition.
On the 21st, a production presentation for the SBS new Friday-Saturday drama 'Treasure Island' was held at the SBS Mokdong headquarters in Yangcheon District, Seoul. The event was hosted by Park Kyung-Rim, attended by director Jin Chang-Kyu, actors Park Hyung-Sik, Heo Jun-Ho, Lee Hae-Young, and Hong Hwa-Yeon.
'Treasure Island' is a life full betting revenge story where Seo Dong-Joo (played by Park Hyung-Sik), who hacked a political slush fund of 2 trillion won, fights everything to bring down the absolute evil that killed him.
Hong Hwa-Yeon plays the role of 'Yeo Eun-Nam,' the granddaughter of Cha Gang-Cheon, a chairman at Daesan Energy in Seoul. After being cast amidst a competition rate of 100 to 1, she expressed her excitement, saying, 'I am thankful to the director. It's an honor to be part of a work with many wonderful seniors. I had a great time.'
In relation to this, director Jin Chang-Kyu explained the casting behind the scenes. He noted, 'The competition rate for actress Hong Hwa-Yeon was actually over 100 to 1. I thought the atmosphere she emits fits the dramatic, deep feel our drama aims for.'
He continued, 'So far, she has appeared in two or three dramas, but I didn't know much about this actress from the references I saw. However, during the audition, when she read a scene, she absorbed it in such a different way that I remember giving her high marks for her acting.'
