The popularity of actor Lee Jun-hyuk has extended to Taiwan.
Lee Jun-hyuk's drama 'My Perfect Secretary' sparked a strong response in Taiwan, inviting the lead actor Lee Jun-hyuk. He visited Taiwan on the 18th and conducted a local promotion on the 19th. 'My Perfect Secretary' premiered on January 3rd through 'Hami Video,' an OTT platform under Taiwan's largest telecommunications company, Chunghwa Telecom, and the entire series was released on February 14th. From the first week of airing to its conclusion over seven weeks, it maintained the top content position. It achieved the best performance among all dramas in the history of Hami Video, garnering intense reactions and great success.
Upon arriving in Taiwan, Lee Jun-hyuk received a warm welcome. Arriving at Taoyuan International Airport surrounded by over 500 fans, Lee Jun-hyuk responded to his fans with friendly greetings, expressing his gratitude for their touching welcome.
On that day, fans dressed as 'pizza,' which Lee Jun-hyuk named as his favorite food, and held large banners and signs shouting in support, while some fans even brought puppies that resembled his dog 'Popcorn.' The enthusiastic response at the scene not only heated up real-time news coverage but was also reported in local newspapers the following day.
Continuing on the 19th, the official press conference held at the Taipei Marriott Hotel was attended by over 100 media outlets, vividly illustrating the explosive local interest. During the press conference, Lee Jun-hyuk shared candid stories about his work, having earned the nickname 'national husband' through the drama 'My Perfect Secretary,' conveying the drama's emotions more closely.
. At the request of the host, Lee Jun-hyuk showcased the line from the drama, “What do you want me to remember?” eliciting cheers from the audience. He selected a scene before confessing in the drama where he locked eyes with Ji-yoon (played by Han Ji-min) at the company, saying, “I think when two people gaze at each other, everything is conveyed without lengthy conversations. I loved that tragic feeling of knowing in my heart but being unable to express it in words.
Additionally, naming director IAAN as someone he would like to work with in Taiwan, Lee Jun-hyuk remarked, “I remember gaining strength while watching the movie 'Life of Pi' when I was going through tough times. I believe that, like that work, culture can have a positive influence on people. After gaining immense strength from IAAN's films, and coming here with my work feels like a miraculous moment, just like that movie.”
Wrapping up the press conference, Lee Jun-hyuk expressed, “Receiving such warm attention from others is not an easy feat. I'm so grateful that so many people have created wonderful memories with me. I feel truly happy to share memories together because you all love the work we put so much effort into.”
Meanwhile, after completing the promotion in Taiwan, Lee Jun-hyuk is currently busy filming the Netflix series 'Lady Dua.' 'Lady Dua' is a drama depicting the story of Sarah Kim (played by Shin Hye-sun), a woman whose entire life is a lie, and Moo-gyeong (played by Lee Jun-hyuk), a man tracing her veiled desires. This project marks the reunion of Shin Hye-sun and Lee Jun-hyuk after eight years since 'Stranger,' raising audience expectations.
