Singer Kim Song-i mourned the spouse status of male duo Namsung member Koo Jun-yeob. Kim Song is better known as the wife of Kang Won-rae, with whom Koo Jun-yeob previously collaborated.
On the 4th, Kim Song expressed her sorrow regarding the news of the death of Xi Shiyuan on her social networking service (SNS), saying, “I was stunned to receive the unbelievable news yesterday.”
She added, “My husband hasn’t said anything and has been drinking alone in his room with the alcohol he hasn’t touched due to a cold lately. He’s someone who can’t express himself… I think he has probably cried alone.”
Earlier, on the 2nd, multiple Taiwanese media outlets, including the Central News Agency, reported that Koo Jun-yeob’s wife and Taiwanese actress Xi Shiyuan died from acute pneumonia while traveling in Japan.
Kim Song also expressed anger at the malicious comments regarding Xi Shiyuan’s death. She said, “Even though Kang Won-rae is disabled, they are blaming the fate of Koo Jun-yeob’s wife and leaving various hateful comments. It’s truly beyond words.”
She concluded by saying, “Oppa Gu (Koo Jun-yeob), don’t force yourself to be okay. Cry without regrets. So please make sure to put a proper period on a love without regrets.”
Xi Shiyuan debuted in the Taiwanese entertainment industry in 1994 as part of the duo ‘SOS’ with her younger sister. She later received great love for playing the female lead in the Taiwanese adaptation of the Japanese original manga ‘Boys Over Flowers’ in 2001.
She met Koo Jun-yeob during the performances of Namsung in Taiwan in 1998. She later married Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei in 2011 but divorced and remarried Koo Jun-yeob the following year in 2022.
