The parents of the girl group New Jeans, who are in conflict over their exclusive contract with the company, have opened a social media (SNS) account to convey their position.
On the 31st, the parents of New Jeans members opened an Instagram account and noted, “This account is a temporary account that has been opened to represent our position in the dispute with HYBE.”
They added, “Since we had no official channel to convey our position, we have made several attempts to directly interview various media outlets or communicate the facts through reporters we knew,” and claimed, “Fortunately, there were a few media outlets that published our statements as they were, but that was very limited, and although we tried to distribute it through the agency, we faced many difficulties in ensuring our position was conveyed accurately without distortion in the headlines.”
They also stated, “The stories of the members have either been distorted or distributed only in very few articles.”
The parents of New Jeans explained, “We understand that some may feel weary from this prolonged dispute, and we sincerely apologize for that, but the content we will convey through this account will mainly be about matters that are difficult for the members to communicate directly, and we respectfully ask for understanding as this is an urgent situation where a communication channel is needed to rectify the facts as the current sole spokesperson for the members.”
Meanwhile, New Jeans announced on Nov. 29 of last year that their agency, Ador, failed to fulfill its obligations and that their exclusive contract had been terminated. They declared that they would leave the company as the issues they requested Ador to rectify had not been improved.
Additionally, New Jeans expressed a desire to work with former Ador representative Min Hee-jin. Since then, the members have been establishing their own path by opening a new Instagram account from Dec. 14 of last year. In response, Ador stated in December of last year, “We have filed a lawsuit with the Seoul Central District Court to legally confirm that the exclusive contract with New Jeans remains valid.”
