Members of the popular girl group NewJeans, who are in a dispute over their exclusive contract with their agency, are soliciting new activity names.
On the Instagram account "jeansforfree," created by the five members of NewJeans, a post was made on the 23rd stating, "Bunnies (NewJeans fandom)! We plan to solicit new activity names to be used for a limited time over the next two days. Please participate actively in the comments."
The account was self-established by the members who declared the termination of their contract with the agency on the 14th of last month. Earlier, the NewJeans members declared the termination of their exclusive contract with ADOR on Nov. 29 of last year and have been in conflict with the agency since then. As a result, it is unclear whether they will be able to continue using the name NewJeans. The NewJeans members have also been using their individual names instead of the team name "NewJeans" in official settings since declaring the termination of their contract with ADOR.
Meanwhile, ADOR issued a statement on the same day, saying, "ADOR maintains that the exclusive contract is valid and is faithfully engaging in legal procedures. It is regrettable that the members are attempting independent entertainment activities, such as soliciting new activity names before receiving a legal judgment, as this could constitute a significant breach of contract."
