A woman who was misunderstood as a mistress by actress Hwang Jung-eum has withdrawn her defamation lawsuit against Hwang Jung-eum.

According to her agency Y-One Entertainment on the 15th, A filed a defamation lawsuit against Hwang Jung-eum and then withdrew it. The agency noted, "We resolved the misunderstanding amicably" and stated, "The timing of the withdrawal is difficult to confirm."

Last June, Hwang Jung-eum posted a photo of a civilian woman A on her social media account, writing, "Please marry my husband? The only reason I am posting this is for one reason. Runaway Yeong-don, please get a divorce and go to Thailand," but quickly deleted it.

In the meantime, a photo capturing the post quickly spread through online communities, leading to speculation that Hwang Jung-eum had publicly targeted a woman presumed to be her husband's mistress.

However, A was a woman unrelated to Hwang Jung-eum's husband. She expressed her astonishment, saying, "I am not the mistress of Lee Yeong-don whom Hwang Jung-eum targeted. I didn't even know what Lee Yeong-don does, and that person probably doesn't even know of my existence."

Later, Hwang Jung-eum apologized on her Instagram, saying, "I misunderstood an unrelated person as my husband's mistress and moved a civilian's post to my account, using terms that might cause offense." Afterwards, Hwang Jung-eum's side attempted to negotiate a settlement with A, but ultimately it fell through, leading to a criminal lawsuit. Eventually, the lawsuit was concluded with its withdrawal, seven months after the news of the lawsuit became public.
