Singer JK Kim Dong-wook, who participated in protests against President Yoon Suk-yeol's impeachment, announced that his concert scheduled for the 25th in Daegu has been canceled.
On the 7th, JK Kim Dong-wook stated on his social media that, "I have unfortunate news to share since the new year. The concert at the Daegu Seo-gu Cultural Center, scheduled for January 25th, has been canceled," adding, "The concert organizers conveyed safety concerns due to external complaints opposing my grants."
He noted, "The cancellation resulted from the absurd agitation of a few external individuals who put in complaints with the intent to threaten by saying they would protest if the concert proceeded, not from complaints by the attendees." He expressed disappointment, saying, "This concert was my first in a few years in Daegu, and I had been diligently rehearsing duet songs for a week prior."
He added, "People around me suggest I should file a lawsuit and discuss various matters, but I leave this message hoping that the situation where the opinions of a minority agitate the will of the majority will not occur again."
JK Kim Dong-wook has openly supported President Yoon Suk-yeol. On the 3rd, he posted, "Protecting the president is protecting the nation. Who is the Corruption Investigation Agency (CPI)?" criticizing the agency's enforcement of arrest warrants. On the 5th, he shared a poll result showing that President Yoon's approval rating for his governance was 40%, stating, "This is not the will of heaven, but the yearning of those longing for liberal democracy."
On the 31st of last month, amid a nationwide mourning atmosphere following the Jeju Air incident at Muan International Airport in Jeollanam-do, he wrote, "It is never right to impose sadness for any reason," adding, "Not posting a photo does not mean one isn't grieving, and not writing a single word doesn't mean one isn't commemorating."
