Comedian Park Na-rae donated to support victims of the Jeju Air passenger plane disaster that occurred in her hometown of Muan.
According to the entertainment industry on the 30th, Park Na-rae contacted the local government on the 29th to deliver a donation, requesting efforts to support the Jeju Air passenger plane disaster. The donation amount was not disclosed per Park Na-rae's wishes.
Park Na-rae is from Muan County, South Jeolla Province, and spent her childhood in Mokpo. When she won the grand prize at the 2019 MBC Entertainment Awards, a banner reading 'Ko ○○’s daughter Park Na-rae MBC Entertainment Awards' was hung in Mangwol-ri, Il-ro-eup, Muan County, in the name of the Muan-Hampyeong Songmunhoe.
On the 29th, Park Na-rae paid tribute to the victims by posting the phrase, “Rest in peace” along with an image of a chrysanthemum on Instagram.
Jeju Air Flight 7C2216 attempted an 'emergency landing' on Muan Airport's runway around 9:03 a.m. on the 29th with its landing gear (airplane wheels) not deployed. The plane collided with a wall, and most of the fuselage was engulfed in flames.
The accident resulted in the deaths of 179 out of 181 onboard, including 175 passengers and six crew members. Two crew members were rescued and taken to a hospital for treatment.
