Family medicine specialist Yeo Esther, 59, attracted attention by revealing that she has never kissed her husband.
On the SBS show 'Take Off Your Shoes, Single for Men' (hereafter 'Single for Men') airing on the 24th, Yeo Esther shares her love story from the first meeting with her husband Hong Hyegul to their marriage.
Yeo Esther shared that she and her husband are currently in a so-called 'friendly indifference' state and that they live separately in Seoul and Jeju because they do not want to divorce.
Celebrating 31 years of marriage, Yeo Esther made a bombshell statement, saying, “I've never kissed my husband,” and revealed that she recently attempted her first kiss with him, leaving the cast and production in shock.
She said, “Recently when we lay face-to-face in Jeju, we both only stuck out our tongues, and when our lips touched, I felt ‘Oh, this is gross’ and turned away, so we didn't succeed.”
Continuing, she explained their kissing failure by saying, “My husband likes a clean mouth,” mentioning, “Medically speaking, decay-causing bacteria, Helicobacter, and the flu can be transmitted through this (kissing), so we thought there was no need to mix unnecessarily.” When asked if she plans to try again, she replied, “It seems impossible with my husband.”
Meanwhile, Yeo Esther is a family medicine specialist as well as a businessperson and broadcaster. She operates the health supplement company Esther Formula. She married medical journalist and fellow Seoul National University College of Medicine alum Hong Hyegul in 1995 and has two sons.
In October, on JTBC's 'Knowing Bros,' she revealed, “I was hospitalized three times for depression and received electroconvulsive therapy 28 times,” adding that “I also used a nasal spray antidepressant concurrently.”
