Kang Seung-yoon, a member of the group Winner, is discharged as an 'outstanding soldier.'
Kang Seung-yoon will be discharged from the army on the 19th. Kang enlisted in the active-duty army in June last year. He is the only member of Winner to have enlisted in active duty.
It became a topic of interest that Kang Seung-yoon received early promotion to corporal, starting with an award as an excellent training soldier, and later winning excellence awards in book reviews and essay contests.
Additionally, when Kang Seung-yoon heard about the heavy rain damage in July last year, Kang was praised for being the first among celebrities to donate 10 million won to the Hope Bridge Association of National Disaster Relief.
Kang Seung-yoon's exemplary military service is attracting attention, especially in comparison with fellow Winner member Song Min-ho's alleged neglect of duty.
Song Min-ho is currently fulfilling alternative military service at the Mapo Resident Convenience Facility in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul. However, suspicions have been raised that Song has not been properly attending work and frequently took vacations, annual leave, and sick leave.
In response, Song Min-ho's agency YG Entertainment stated, "It is difficult to confirm detailed information regarding the artist's service," but added, "The sick leave is an extension of the treatment received before service, and all other leave was used in accordance with regulations."
Song Min-ho's discharge date is the 23rd. However, the police have begun a preliminary investigation following a civil complaint filed with the National Petition Center requesting an investigation into Song Min-ho's alleged habitual absenteeism.
