The girl group NewJeans opened a new social media (SNS) account, prompting their agency Ador, which is in an exclusive contract dispute with them, to state that it is "a concerning situation."
On the 18th, Ador noted, "Except for the official SNS of NewJeans created by Ador, all other accounts were opened without prior consultation as per the exclusive contract." They further mentioned, "Inquiries and complaints from third parties, such as advertisers, regarding the account and content posts are actually occurring."
On the 14th, NewJeans opened a new Instagram called 'jeanzforfree.' Min Hee-jin, the former representative of Ador, liked their first post.
The members stated, "(This account) is truly us," and noted, "We will meet more often here."
Since the 29th of last month, NewJeans has maintained that their exclusive contract with Ador has been terminated.
On the other hand, Ador claims the exclusive contract is still valid and has filed a lawsuit to confirm the validity of the exclusive contract against the members.
Ador stated, "Separate entertainment activities through the account could cause legal issues, and Ador has conveyed concerns to the artists and their legal representatives (the members' parents)."
Additionally, they mentioned, "NewJeans has dedicated platforms for communication with fans, such as Phoning, as well as official SNS accounts like Instagram and X (formerly Twitter)," and added, "We hope the members communicate with fans through the official channels as before."
On this day, NewJeans members also posted recently shot Vogue Korea pictorial photos on the 'jeanzforfree' Instagram. Only the five members' names were listed in the pictorial, and the team name "NewJeans" was not written, attracting attention. The former representative Min participated as a director in this pictorial.
NewJeans will attend the first day's event of the 'Golden Disc Awards,' a pop music awards ceremony held in Fukuoka, Japan, on Dec. 4-5.
