Group NewJeans has opened an Instagram account, "jeanzforfree," and started communicating with fans. The account reached 2.2 million followers within a day of opening.
On the 14th, NewJeans members announced good deeds for fans as their first post along with the account opening. They revealed through their story that they pre-paid for food such as kimbap, drinks, coffee, and samgyetang for fans participating in the candlelight protest for the president's impeachment held in Yeouido that day. They emphasized their bond with the fandom "Bunnies" and received a great response from the fans.
Minji expressed excitement through the post caption, saying, "I've been waiting for this day," while Danielle welcomed the connection with fans with the message, "Missed this like crazy." Hanni caught fans' attention with witty remarks in the story, asking, "Can you handle our Instagram?"
NewJeans uploaded four posts and 12 stories within a day of opening the account, actively engaging with fans. Minji shared a meaningful message along with personal photos, and Hanni shared playful pictures taken inside an airplane. Fans were able to enjoy new sides of the members that they hadn’t seen before.
Previously, on the 28th of last month, NewJeans announced the termination of the exclusive contract with ADOR at an emergency press conference, starting independent activities. In response, ADOR filed a lawsuit to confirm the validity of the exclusive contract, indicating a legal dispute, but NewJeans continues with their planned activities unfazed by this. Recently, they appeared as a guest at a concert by the Japanese duo YOASOBI in Korea, and the members are continually connecting with fans even without officially using the name 'NewJeans.'
The 'jeanzforfree' account they opened has become more than just a promotional tool; it's a platform for direct communication with fans. This is seen as NewJeans seeking new possibilities in their independent course, continuously strengthening their relationship with the fandom after their declaration of separation from ADOR.
