Actor Kwon Eun-bin, formerly of the group CLC, has announced retirement from the entertainment industry. She also said she will wrap up all activities in the entertainment industry after completing CLC's previously scheduled overseas performances.
On the 16th, Kwon Eun-bin posted on her social media (SNS), saying, "After long deliberation, I have decided to live as an ordinary person."
Kwon Eun-bin said, "During about 10 years of activities in the entertainment industry, every moment was happy thanks to fans' generous love and support, and I was sincerely grateful," adding, "During the long period of activity that began in my teens, I increasingly found myself contemplating my past, present, and future as time went by."
Looking back on her activities in the entertainment industry, she wrote, "I realized that most of the time was spent suffering from emptiness and anxiety about the present and future rather than affection and love for the work." She also said, "Without efforts to overcome negative emotions and times and to grow, I spent regrettable time merely avoiding and venting."
She also opened up about disillusionment with personal relationships. Kwon Eun-bin said, "For years, I was wasting my precious time on aimless hours that were not at all beneficial to me and on relationships that were nothing but shells with no nourishment to be found." She added, "Now I have decided to put all those negative times and emotions behind me and spend my time pursuing a better and happier future."
As for future activities, she said, "I plan to conclude all activities in the entertainment industry after finishing CLC's overseas group schedule that was already planned." She added, "I sincerely thank you for the support you have given, and I wish everyone happiness."
Kwon Eun-bin's last official schedule is expected to be CLC's overseas performance. Kwon Eun-bin is slated to take part in CLC's 11th debut anniversary concert to be held on July 19 in Zepp New Taipei, Taiwan. However, this performance will not be a full-member stage with all members together. Choi Yu-jin is reportedly unable to attend due to activities with Kep1er.
Earlier, Kwon Eun-bin ended her exclusive contract with Cube Entertainment Corp. last month. After her public profile was removed from portal sites, speculation arose that she was retiring from the entertainment industry. In her post that day, Kwon Eun-bin said, "I am sorry for causing concern to many people due to an unintentional article a while ago," adding, "I thought it was right to personally let everyone who has supported me know about my recent situation and my decision, so I decided to write this."
Kwon Eun-bin gained recognition by appearing on Mnet's audition program "Produce 101" in 2016, and later promoted as a member of CLC. CLC ended team activities in 2022. Kwon Eun-bin has also worked as an actor, appearing in the dramas "Bad Papa," "At A Distance Spring is Green," "Dear.M," "High Cookie," and "Check-in Hanyang."
