Flutist Han Ji-hee, the wife of Shinsegae Group Chairman Chung Yong-jin, will release her debut album.
Universal Music said on the 3rd that it will release the debut album "Carl Reinecke: Works for Flute" on the 24th of this month.
Han Ji-hee's new release is an album featuring three works by Carl Reinecke. With the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Vasily Petrenko, she recorded the "Flute Concerto in D major" and the "Ballade in D minor for Flute and Orchestra," and, together with world-renowned Chinese pianist Lang Lang, the sonata for flute and piano "Undine." Among the tracks, the first movement of "Undine" will be pre-released for streaming.
Han studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and Oberlin Conservatory of Music in the United States, and received a doctoral degree from the graduate school of Seoul National University. She also chose the Reinecke flute concerto as the subject of her master's thesis. Carl Reinecke was a composer who concurrently served as director of the Leipzig Conservatory and conductor of the Gewandhaus Orchestra.
Through Universal Music, Han said, "At 13, I fell in love with Reinecke's music through a Jean-Pierre Rampal recording," and noted, "The flute concerto and Undine were the most important repertoire of my student years."
She added, "Through this recording, my desire to introduce classical music, art, and culture to young people has grown stronger," and said, "I believe helping them come to love great art will be the most important work for me."
Han Ji-hee, an artist under SM Entertainment's classical and jazz label SM Classic, will also hold a concert on the 29th of this month to mark the release of the new album.
