An exhibition of works by Seoh Do-sik, a metalcraft artist and former professor at Seoul National University's College of Fine Arts, titled "An invitation in December," will run from the 16th to the 27th at Omae Gallery in Samcheong-dong, Seoul.
The exhibition centers on works with persimmons and birds as motifs. On the first floor, tableware and interior ornaments inspired by nature fill the space. Silver bowls shaped like birds, silver cups, ripe persimmons arranged on trays, and persimmon oil lamps evoke warm affection and winter memories from childhood.
In the basement, metal jar works that Seoh Do-sik has consistently created over the past several years will be on view. A large persimmon piece reflecting the exhibition theme, three-dimensional metal jar works, and relief works are harmoniously arranged in one place.
This is Seoh Do-sik's 13th solo exhibition. Seoh has held an exhibition every year since retiring in 2021 from Seoul National University's College of Fine Arts. Drawing on long-honed metalcraft techniques, Seoh has gained attention for works that embody a distinctive sense of creativity and aesthetics. In particular, Seoh is noted for uniquely rendering images through bold expressions of varied textures and lacquer colors.
