Hong Kong Ocean Park has unveiled a customized strategy targeting Korean tourists.
Ocean Park said on the 24th, "We will make a leap as an ecological theme park that all generations can enjoy by unveiling a new panda family and strengthening thrill rides and educational experiences."
Launched in 1977 as a nonprofit institution, Ocean Park has established itself as a tourism destination centered on marine life conservation, education, and hands-on experiences under the banner of "a theme park that connects people and nature."
Rozaline Siu, executive director of sales, marketing, and entertainment, said, "Ocean Park is a world-class ecological theme park that houses about 400 species of marine and wild animals, including six giant pandas." She added, "Marine conservation programs, operations centered on animal welfare, and educational experiences are Ocean Park's core values," noting, "Korea is one of the key markets where these can best be enjoyed."
Ocean Park consists of two zones: the Waterfront and the Summit. A cable car and the funicular train Ocean Express connect the two.
At the Waterfront, educational elements are combined with hands-on content, including the Grand Aquarium, which showcases more than 200 species of marine life; Old Hong Kong, which recreates Hong Kong of the 1950s to 1970s; and Hong Kong Jockey Club Sichuan Treasures, where visitors can see pandas and golden snub-nosed monkeys together.
The Summit is a space for visitors who enjoy thrill rides. Signature attractions include the Hair Raiser roller coaster, The Flash, which rotates 360 degrees, and Whirly Bird, which feels like flying over the sea.
Kim Yun-ho, head of the Korea office of the Hong Kong Tourism Board, said, "Ocean Park is creating a model of sustainable tourism where nature and humans coexist, not just a theme park," adding, "We will continue to do our best so that Korean travelers can have even richer experiences in Hong Kong."
