The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the National Institute of Korean Language said on the 30th that they refined 19 foreign terms into easy Korean, including "early bird," "super week," and "boot camp."
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the National Institute of Korean Language refined "early bird" to "early booker," "super week" to "core week," and "boot camp" to "intensive training." They also revised the widely used online term "ditto consumption" to "imitative consumption."
They also refined professional terms often used in the media, such as the "discovery system" and "RE100," to "evidence disclosure system" and "100% renewable energy," respectively.
This round of foreign-term refinement was finalized through expert discussions by the New Words Council, a public acceptance survey, and deliberation and resolution by the Korean Language Deliberation Council's Language Refinement Subcommittee.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the National Institute of Korean Language plan to continue refining unfamiliar foreign terms into Korean and informing the public. The refined terms to date are available on the National Institute of Korean Language website.
