Director Park Chan-wook's new film 'No Other Choice' did not win an award at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival, which closed on the 6th (local time). The top prize, the Golden Lion, went to director Jim Jarmusch's 'Father, Mother, Sister, Brother.'
The film 'No Other Choice,' which will be released on the 24th, tells the story of office worker 'Mansu' (Lee Byung-hun) preparing for a personal war to re-employ himself after being fired, in order to protect his wife and two children.
Previously, director Park was invited to the competition institutional sector of the Venice Film Festival. It has been 13 years since a Korean film entered the competition institutional sector since director Kim Ki-duk's 'Pietà.' This is the first invitation for director Park in 20 years, since 'Lady Vengeance' in 2005.
Meanwhile, the jury prize for second place in the competition institutional sector at the Venice International Film Festival went to Tunisian director Kaouther Ben Hania's 'The Voice of Hind Raji.' 'The Voice of Hind Raji' is based on the true story of a 6-year-old girl from Gaza who was killed in an Israeli military attack last January. The director award went to Benny Safdie for the film 'Smashing Machine.'
