The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korean Film Council announced on the 3rd that they will distribute an additional 1.88 million movie ticket discount vouchers worth 6,000 won.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will redistribute the remaining 450,000 movie ticket discount vouchers that were issued on July 25th and not used by the expiration date of the 2nd.
Discount vouchers can be obtained from 10 a.m. on the 8th through the websites and applications of multiplex cinemas such as CGV, Lotte Cinema, Mega Box, and Cine Q. They will also be provided at independent and art cinemas, as well as small cinemas and silver cinemas.
The first-come, first-served usage method will also change at the time of payment. Each cinema will automatically allocate two discount vouchers to each person's online member coupon box, and vouchers can be used at the time of payment. When the quantity held by each cinema is exhausted, the discounts will end, and any unused vouchers in the member coupon box will automatically expire.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and KOFIC will also operate a comprehensive information desk to guide those who are not familiar with using websites and apps on how to make reservations.
A Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism official noted, "The average number of viewers at cinemas from the first distribution period, from last month's 25th to September 2nd, was about 435,000 per day, which is an increase of about 1.8 times compared to the average daily number of viewers from January 1st to July 24th this year, indicating that the discount vouchers have contributed to increasing public interest in movies."
