The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 14th that it will hold the national finals of the 17th President's Cup Amateur Esports Tournament at the Jecheon Gymnasium from the 16th to the 17th.
The Amateur Esports Tournament has been held since 2009 to promote balanced regional development in esports and to provide a foundation for amateur esports players to engage in activities.
This year, about 300 participants, including athletes and officials representing 16 metropolitan cities and provinces, will compete in a total of five events, including League of Legends, FC Online, Eternal Return, Brawl Stars, and Street Fighter 6.
The local government that wins the overall championship will receive the President's Award, while the top local governments in each category will receive the Minister's Award, and exemplary local governments will receive the Minister's commendation.
The opening ceremony will be held on August 16 at the Jecheon Gymnasium. Various side events, including esports experience and indie game experience, are scheduled to take place during the opening ceremony.
Meanwhile, this tournament will be broadcast live online through Naver Chijijik, SOOP, and YouTube, and anyone can attend and watch for free on-site.
