The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) is holding a 'Tourism AI Problem-Solving Idea Contest' in collaboration with the Korea Tourism Society and is accepting applications until September 5.
This contest has been organized to solve problems in the tourism field through the creative ideas of university students who will open the future of the tourism industry based on AI technology. The contest categories are divided into event-type and tourism service-type according to the characteristics of the tourism field, and participants can apply in both categories. The event-type targets one-time or short-term events such as festivals, conventions, mega-events, and performances. The tourism service-type includes spaces that operate year-round, such as tourist attractions, tourism special zones, and local tourist spots, excluding individual tourism facilities like hotels.
Any domestic university student (including those on leave) interested in AI technology and problem-solving in the tourism field can participate. Applications can be made individually or as a team, and teams composed of students from two or more departments can receive bonus points.
A final selection of 10 teams (individuals) will be made through document review and presentation evaluation. ▲Grand prize (1 team, 2 million won) ▲Best award (2 teams, 1 million won each) will receive awards from the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) president, while ▲Excellence award (2 teams, 500,000 won each) and ▲Encouragement award (5 teams) will receive awards from the president of the Korea Tourism Society. Additionally, follow-up programs such as workshop participation and on-site verification monitoring will also be provided.
Lee Jae-hyung, head of the smart tourism team at the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), said, "I hope this contest will practically resolve the problems in the tourism field with AI," and noted, "We will actively support the application of university students' creative ideas to reality."
