The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 7th that it will distribute a total of 2.1 million discount vouchers for performances and exhibitions in conjunction with the Korea Arts Management Service (KAMS) and Arts Council Korea.
This event is a project promoted with 10 billion won from the new government's second supplementary budget for recovery of livelihood in 2025. The distributed vouchers include 500,000 performance discount vouchers and 1.6 million exhibition discount vouchers, available for purchase with two vouchers per person on a first-come, first-served basis at five online booking sites (NOL Interpark, Melon Ticket, Time Ticket, Ticket Link, YES24).
Applications can be made online starting at 10 a.m. on the 8th until 11:59 p.m. on the 19th of next month for about six weeks, and issuance will end when the prepared quantity is exhausted. The performance discount voucher costs 10,000 won per voucher, while the exhibition discount voucher costs 3,000 won per voucher.
One discount voucher can be applied per transaction. Even if the ticket price is lower than the amount of the voucher, multiple tickets can be purchased, and if the total payment exceeds the minimum payment amount, the voucher can be used.
The discount voucher can be used when the total payment amount for performances is over 15,000 won and for exhibitions, over 5,000 won. For example, if two performance tickets costing 8,000 won each are purchased, the total of 16,000 won meets the minimum payment condition, allowing the application of one 10,000 won discount voucher.
The issued discount vouchers must be used by the expiration date of the 19th of next month, and they can only be applied to performances and exhibitions scheduled for viewing by November 30.
The fields of performances eligible for discounts include theater, musicals, classical music, traditional Korean music, dance, and mixed genres, excluding popular music and dance.
Exhibitions can apply to visual arts exhibitions, art fairs, and biennales held in various exhibition spaces such as national and private art galleries across the country. Industrial fairs do not qualify.
If there are any unused discount vouchers, additional distribution is planned for October.
To broaden cultural access opportunities for local residents and promote revitalization of local performances and exhibitions, Time Ticket will additionally issue two exclusive discount vouchers applicable only to performances and exhibitions held outside the metropolitan area.
Vulnerable groups online, such as the elderly and people with disabilities, can use a telephone comprehensive guidance service. The telephone reservation system operated by online booking sites also supports the issuance of discount vouchers.
Ten thousand performance discount vouchers will be distributed separately to the All Arts Theater, a venue for performances for people with disabilities, with plans to enable the use of vouchers linked to the reservation system of All Arts Theater.
