The original soundtrack 'Golden' from the Netflix animated film 'K-Pop Demon Hunters,' which has taken the world by storm, has reached No. 1 on the UK Official Singles Chart. This marks the first time K-pop has topped the UK Official Chart since Psy's 'Gangnam Style' in 2012.
According to the latest UK Official Chart on the 1st (local time), 'Golden' climbed three spots from the previous week to take the top position on the singles chart in its sixth week since release. The song, performed by the popular girl group Huntress from K-Pop Demon Hunters, debuted at No. 93 on the singles chart at the end of June. It then rose to No. 31, No. 20, No. 9, and No. 4 before reaching the top spot.
The UK Official Chart is considered one of the two major charts in the world, along with the U.S. Billboard Chart. 'Golden' also secured the No. 2 spot on the Billboard Hot 100, the main singles chart in the U.S.
The Official Chart stated, 'Netflix's 'K-Pop Demon Hunters,' which has become a phenomenon, has dominated this week's Official Chart,' adding, 'The most recent case of a K-pop artist reaching the top of the Official Singles Chart was Psy's 'Gangnam Style' in 2012.'
In addition to 'Golden,' the OST for 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' features 'Your Idol' at No. 10, 'Soda Pop' at No. 11, and 'TAKEDOWN' at No. 63 on the Official Singles Chart.
'K-Pop Demon Hunters' tells the story of the K-pop idol group Huntress fighting evil spirits to protect the world through song, produced by Sony Pictures Animation. 'Golden' is a track composed by Teddy and 24 from the renowned K-pop agency The Black Label, featuring vocals by former SM Entertainment trainee EJAE, Korean-American singer Audrey Nuna, and Ray Amiga.
