The Korean Cultural Center in Austria announced on the 24th that it will hold an interdisciplinary contemporary art exhibition titled 'Aqua Paradise' that sheds new light on the meaning of water, the source of life.
This exhibition, which will run from the 24th to September 19, is a contemporary art project that was first planned by the Asia Culture Center (ACC) in 2022 and showcased in Gwangju. 'Aqua Paradise' is one of the exhibitions under the 'Touring K-Arts' project, which is supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea International Culture Exchange Agency, and it will be presented in Austria this year for the first time outside Korea.
The exhibition in Austria will feature works by Korean artists Kwon Hye-won, Bujihyun, and the art collective 'Eco Orot,' who participated in the ACC exhibition. They artistically explore the dynamism of water and new relationships between humans and nature through their unique visual languages.
This exhibition artistically illuminates the reality in which water has transformed into a symbol of loss and threat amid the climate crisis and ecological destruction. 'Aqua Paradise' encourages viewers to see water not merely as a resource or background but as an ecological entity. Visitors will experience a renewed imagination of their relationship with water.
Director Lim Jin-hong noted, 'Aqua Paradise' is the first exhibition on environmental themes presented by the cultural center since its opening. He said, 'We aim to provide an opportunity to resonate together through art on the global issue of the climate crisis.'
