The original soundtrack (OST) of the Netflix animated film 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' maintained its position in the 'Top 5' on the Billboard 200, even in its fourth week of release.
According to a pre-release article from the Billboard chart on the 20th (local time), the 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' OST recorded a drop of three spots to 5th place. The album initially entered the Billboard 200 at 8th place in its first week, climbed five spots in its second week to reach 3rd, and recorded its highest position at 2nd in the third week.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks album consumption based on ▲traditional album sales including physical albums ▲spending equivalent to album sales from streaming counts (SEA) ▲spending equivalent to album sales from digital downloads (TEA). The 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' OST recorded album units equivalent to 85,000, which is a 14% increase from the previous week's tally.
During this chart counting period, the album's SEA recorded 79,000, which is a 14% increase from the previous week. Album sales increased by 13% to 5,000 copies. TEA showed a 10% increase to 1,000.
During this period, the 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' OST was streamed 10,953,000 times. This is the second highest record for an OST. Previously, the OST for 'Encanto' achieved the number one spot on the Billboard 200 for seven weeks in March 2022, with a total of 11,467,000 streams.
Billboard noted, 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' debuted in the 'Top 10' on the Billboard 200 and introduced it as 'the only soundtrack to show an increase in album units for the second, third, and fourth weeks since units were first counted in December 2014.'
'K-Pop Demon Hunters' also saw its tracks 'Golden' and 'Soda Pop' achieve 1st and 2nd places, respectively, on the domestic music platform Melon's 'Top 100' chart.
