On the 14th, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that it will hold the opening ceremony for the '2025-2026 Korea-Japan-China Cultural Exchange Year' in Tokyo, Japan.
The 'Year of Trilateral Cultural Exchange' is a follow-up to the 9th Korea-Japan-China Summit and has laid the foundation for cultural exchange cooperation through the signing of a memorandum of understanding at the 15th Korea-Japan-China Culture Ministers' Meeting.
The opening ceremony will begin with welcoming remarks and congratulatory speeches from representatives of each country, followed by the unveiling of the official logo for the 'Year of Trilateral Cultural Exchange.' Short videos will be screened, and traditional cultural performances from the three countries will be held.
The official logo, themed 'Cultural Empathy and Opening the Future - Year of Korea-Japan-China Cultural Exchange,' was created by the future generations of the three countries. It represents the harmony of the three cultures using three types of flowers: hibiscus, cherry blossom, and peony. The short videos, produced by young people, focus on 'The Future of the Three Countries.'
Starting with the opening ceremony, South Korea, Japan, and China will conduct cultural exchange projects in various fields such as music, exhibitions, sports, and tourism throughout 2025.
Vice Minister Yong-ho Sung said, 'South Korea, Japan, and China are taking their first steps towards meeting different cultures, empathizing, and opening a new future,' adding, 'South Korea will continue to expand cultural exchanges among the three countries and will do its best to position East Asia as the center of global culture.'
