The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 24th that it has appointed Bang Gui-hee, 68, as the chairman of the Korea Disabled Culture and Arts Foundation.
Chairperson Bang's term will last for three years until March 2028.
Established in 2015, the Korea Disabled Culture and Arts Foundation is dedicated to supporting cultural and artistic activities for artists with disabilities. It operates dedicated facilities for disabled culture and arts, including the "Ium Center," "Modu Art Theater," and "Modu Art Space."
Chairperson Bang has actively worked in the field of disabled arts, serving as the inaugural Chairperson of the Support Committee for Cultural Activities of Artists with Disabilities from 2021 to 2024, and has held positions as the president of the Korea Disabled Artists Association and a board member of the Korea Disabled Culture and Arts Foundation.
Minister Yoo In-chon said, "I hope you will strengthen the capabilities of artists with disabilities and work to improve the enjoyment of culture for people with disabilities based on your rich experience and communication skills accumulated in the field."
