The author of the global bestseller "Sapiens," Yuval Noah Harari, is visiting Korea to give a lecture on the future of humanity in the age of artificial intelligence (AI).
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 17th that it will invite Harari to a special discussion on the theme "The sustainable tomorrow we create together" at Yonsei University Auditorium in the Seodaemun District of Seoul on the 20th.
This event is organized as a pre-event for the "2025 Gyeongju Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit," which will be held in September in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, during the "International Gyeongju Historical and Cultural Forum."
Harari will be the speaker, and Jeon Byeong-geun, the representative of the Book Club Origin, and Professor Kang Yeon-ah from the Department of Convergence Humanities and Social Sciences at Yonsei University will participate as discussants.
Harari's lecture and discussion will be broadcast live online through the Ministry of Culture's and the 2025 Gyeongju APEC Summit's YouTube channels. Edited video will be posted on the Ministry's website by the end of next month.
A Ministry official noted, "I hope we can discuss the importance of consolidation and mutual understanding among people through culture to create a sustainable future for humanity."
