RM and V, two members of the popular K-pop group BTS, will begin their mandatory military service on December 11.
When the other two members Jimin and Jungkook enlist on Dec. 12, all the members of BTS will undergo their military service obligations. The eldest member of the group, Jin, enlisted in the army last December, while J-Hope followed in April this year. SUGA, on the other hand, has been working as a social service worker since September last year.
BTS's possible military exemption has sparked controversy in Korean society, however, the members have demonstrated through their actions that they are not seeking special treatment and have agreed to fulfill their obligations.
"I am so happy to have been able to live as part of BTS for the last 10 years," RM shared on the fandom platform Weverse the day before. He also mentioned, "I believe that this period will be an unusual time for all of us, a time of new inspiration and learning."
"Goodbye for a while, and let us be us, wherever and whenever we are! See you in the future," he added.
