The New York Times (NYT) released its list of the '71 Most Stylish 'People' of 2023′ on Dec. 6, which included Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol and idol group NewJeans.
Although the list mostly featured pop stars and actors, President Yoon and King Charles III of the United Kingdom were the only heads of state mentioned.
The NYT praised President Yoon's performance of 'American Pie' at the White House State Dinner, stating that it was "worthy of 'American Idol'." 'American Idol' is a popular music talent show on ABC in the United States.
The NYT also commended NewJeans, an all-female K-pop group, for their unique sound inspired by late '90s and early 2000s R&B. The group made history by becoming the first female K-pop act to perform at Lollapalooza. Following the release of their second mini album, 'Get Up', which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in August, NewJeans received great acclaim for their performance at the Lollapalooza music festival in Chicago.
